DONALD O. PERRIN

Donald Odell Perrin, age 89, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe, Kan. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, May 14, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel, with services beginning at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  The family requests contributions to the Olathe Hospice House in care of Olathe Medical Center.   To leave a special message for the family, please visit our website at www.PenwellGabelOlathe.com

Don was born Sept. 5, 1922 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to Arvel and Era Perrin.  Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Before his retirement Don and his brother Aldon Perrin owned and operated Perrin Machinery Company, the Ford tractor dealership in Olathe. Don attended John P. St. John’s High School in Olathe and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II flying 58 combat missions before his discharge in 1945.  Don resided in Olathe from 1939 until his passing.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Lois Perrin, brothers Dub Perrin and Adon Perrin.  Don is survived by his daughter Lana (Mike) Knop; son Doug (Pam) Perrin; grandson Kyle (Katie Chiaverini) Knop; granddaughter Emily (Shawn) Coates; granddaughter Leslie (Todd) Kohman; great-grandchildren Isabella Coates, Tristan Coates, Kyle Kohman, Solana Chiaverini and Mazzino Chiaverini Knop.

  1. So sorry for the loss of Mr. Perrin. I’m kind of amazed to see the “family tree” here and realize how many people I have known for years that are related through Mr. Perrin. Prayers, good thoughts and much love to his family and friends during this time!!!
