The annual Olathe’s Got Talent event will showcase this area’s young talent in the areas of music (vocal and instrumental), dance, and variety (comedy, magic, etc.). Performers from age seven through their senior year in high school will have the chance to compete for scholarships during this year’s event.
Olathe’s Got Talent 2014 will be from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the auditorium of Olathe East High School, 14545 W. 127th St., Olathe. The event is organized by the Olathe Noon Optimist Club and Olathe East in conjunction with Olathe Parks and Recreation.
In addition to the scholarships, a “Show Stopper Award” from Simmons First National Bank will be awarded to one of the performances.
Audition applications will be available in schools Monday, Feb. 3 and are due Monday, Feb. 24. More information is available by calling (913) 829-3720.
Auditions will be held Thursday, March 6 and Saturday, March 8 at Olathe East. Finalists must attend an event rehearsal on Friday, April 18.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and students. They may be purchased online at www.olathenoonoptimist.com, from Olathe Noon and Olathe Evening Optimist members, or by emailing email@example.com.
Proceeds from Olathe’s Got Talent 2014 will provide scholarships, educational materials for Olathe East’s theatre department, Miracle League team sponsorships, and other youth projects supported by the Olathe Noon Optimists.
