Leadership Olathe Alumni are invited to a behind-the-scenes look at The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Laboratory, a division of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. The crime lab began operations in 1974 at the corner of Lamar and Martway in Mission with five staff and offered services in photography, latent prints, crime scene processing, and firearms/toolmarks analysis.
The brand new state-of-the-art, full-service forensic science facility opened in Olathe earlier this year with a staff of 36 across eight different disciplines. It is a fantastic facility that will not only offer cutting edge forensic science services to the citizens of Johnson County, but also offer huge savings in energy costs as it is anticipated to be awarded LEED Platinum status. Event begins at 4 p.m., followed by tours beginning at 4:30, 5 and 5:30.
