MNU President’s Honors set for April 12

Got some extra cash in your pocket but not sure what do with it.

Well, the folks at MidAmerica Nazarene University can help you out with several options during its annual President’s Honors scholarship fund-raising event starting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, in the Cook Center on the MNU campus. It’s an evening of entertainment, fine dining, some dynamic silent and live auctions, and a showcase of MNU student talent.

MidAmerica Nazarene University’s Olathe campus is located at 2030 E. College Way in Olathe. For driving directions, click here. Cook Center is located on Lindenwood Drive between College Way and Sheridan (#24 on the campus map found at the link above).

That money in your pocket can be used to be a sponsor, either a platinum, gold, silver, bronze or a table sponsor, which come with prime or preferred seating as well as recognition in various media. MNU officials say being a sponsor is a great way to promote your business or organization to a “highly desirable” audience while also providing support to Christian higher education.

You can also use that extra cash in your pocket to purchase some outstanding prizes from either the silent auction, the live auction, or both. Heck, MNU officials would even allow you to donate an item to the auction and then be more than happy to have you buy it back.

The silent auction begins promptly at 6:30 p.m., so plan to arrive early to get your bidder number and peruse the unique items up for bid, including:

  • NEW! Garmin GPS and Bushnell binoculars
  • NEW! Diamond and silver cross pendant
  • LG brand 3D plasma television 1080p
  • Guided fishing excursion led by a competitive bass fisherman at Stockton Lake
  • Branson getaway in a 2 bedroom/2 bath newly remodeled condo (4 days/3 nights)
  • Original artwork beautifully framed
  • Breckenridge, CO, townhome vacation
  • Golf outings
  • Quilt
  • Panama Beach, FL, condo vacation
  • Hotel and bed & breakfast stays
  • Gift baskets and gift certificates
  • Custom-painted MNU spirit shoes
  • Website and graphic design package from Strategic Salt
  • …and many more! Check back weekly for updates as items continue to arrive!

There are always surprises at the live auction — that’s part of what makes it so much fun! Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek at items that will be auctioned live (more to come!):

  • NEW! Oval brilliant-cut diamond pendant necklace
  • NEW! Two-day hunt for two people at the exclusive Flint Oak Hunting Club
  • NEW! Framed Thomas Kinkaide’s “The Light of Peace,” hand-illuminated and numbered
  • Silverthorne, Colo., condo vacation (6 days/7 nights)
  • Dinner for six with President and Mrs. Spittal at the home of Mark and Candi Brown

  • “Name the Circle” — a rare opportunity to name MNU’s circle drive for one year in memory, honor or recognition of someone
  • Mattie Uphaus homemade apple pie baked by Merry Clegg

The silent and live auctions were an enormous part of the success of the inaugural President’s Honors with more than $100,000 raised through the two auctions alone. To donate items, contact the Office of University Advancement at (913) 971-3600 or mlsmith@mnu.edu.

Individual tickets for the 2013 President’s Honors are currently available for purchase online at a cost of $100 per person.
