The Olathe Police Department is looking for Chase Brayden Lekan.

Lekan, 16, was reported missing on May 25.


Police Dog Conference in Olathe June 3-7

The Olathe Police Department will be hosting the NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association) National Conference June 3-7.

Police K-9 teams from all over the country including the Bahamas will be in Olathe to train and certify in many utility phases including police patrol scenarios and tactical techniques. Training also will cover specialty phases such as narcotics, explosives, cadaver, and accelerants.

There will be a public demonstration at 7 p.m. June 6 at the College Boulevard Activities Center, 11031 S. Valley Rd (111th & Lone Elm Rd). This demonstration will include all the specialty phases listed above as well as suspect apprehension and tracking.

Olathe PD conducts alcohol compliance checks

During the evening hours of Thursday May 23, members of the Olathe Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout the City of Olathe.

These compliance checks focused on establishments that sell alcohol. The purpose of the operation was to insure that these establishments are checking customer’s identification and not selling alcohol to under-aged individuals. Out of 59 establishments checked, 55 complied by asking for ID. The four establishments that did not comply were cited for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor and given municipal court dates.
