Olathe increases neighborhood communication with Nextdoor

This month, the City of Olathe will start to increase its communications with neighborhoods via Nextdoor, a social networking tool available via the web or mobile app. The City of Olathe Police Department has used Nextdoor over the past year as a virtual neighborhood watch, with over 6,100 residents registered with the tool to-date. The City will now be sharing additional types of news including neighborhood-specific street closures, utility interruption updates, City events, important tips and more.

Free for residents and the City, each Olathe neighborhood can establish and self-manage their own private (password protected) Nextdoor webpage, accessible only to verified members of that neighborhood. Residents can use their webpage to get to know their neighbors, share information about safety concerns, local events, lost pets, etc. The City can share important neighborhood news to Nextdoor without access to the resident information or content on each neighborhood site.

To join Nextdoor, go to Nextdoor.com or download the app on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, create a profile and select your Olathe neighborhood.  If you have a concern with City services, continue to contact customer service via OlatheConnect at OlatheKS.org/OlatheConnect.
