Olathe business owner vows to rebuild

From Fox4 News, WDAF-TV

One store owner in Johnson County says his business won’t miss a beat. That assurance comes after a Sunday evening fire, which, according to investigators, leaves his popular store with over $1 million in damage.

Gary Roles says he’s never been through anything like this. He’s co-owned Olathe T-Shirt and Trophy since 1981, and he’s positive his company will bounce back from a fire that left his business as a burned-up mess.

“It’s one of those things you think happens to someone else,” Roles said.

When Roles’ phone rang on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., he didn’t yet know the bad news that awaited him at his store.

Video provided by the Olathe Fire Department shows firefighters working to save the business, one that Roles has owned for 34 years, including 14 at the location off Kansas City Avenue.
