Olathe schools closed Tuesday, Nov. 3 because of parade for Royals

Due to staff absences and the corresponding shortage of substitute teachers in light of celebrations scheduled to honor the Kansas City Royals’ World Series championship, the Olathe Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Because of the staffing challenges and concerns about the ability to provide a meaningful learning environment for our students as well as enough staff for a safe level of supervision of students, district administration felt this was necessary.

All high school extra-curricular activities and athletics will be held as scheduled on Nov. 3. There will be no elementary or middle school activities or athletics held on Nov. 3. There will be Y Care available at consolidated sites for those who have signed up for care. This is done on a first come, first serve basis.

School will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
