Fire damages Olathe home

Just before 6 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire in west Olathe. A 911 caller reported the blaze and said the back of the house was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames and smoke coming from the back of the home.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to control the fire, which caused significant damage to the home. Everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived and no one was hurt. An investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters say every fire serves as a great reminder to check your home’s smoke alarms by simply pressing the test button.
