More closures at I-435, I-35 and K-10

JoCoGateway Traffic Alert 2016-07-15B Starting this weekend, at 10 p.m., Friday, July 15, big changes are coming to westbound 435.

Traffic will be diverted onto the new 435 mainline, adjacent to the eastbpimd lanes between I-35 and K-10. This will be the beginning of the last phase, building the westbound collector-distributor road similar to the one on the south side heading east to I-35. There are several impacts to this change:

·         The ramp from I-35 southbound to 435 westbound will be closed for 5 days as the previous ramp is modified to access the mainline (bypassing the current ramp, which will feed the C-D road).

·         The ramp from westbound 435 to K-10 will be closed for 10-14 days to finish and cutover to the new pavement.

·         And the one we’ve been waiting for since last fall… The ramps between westbound 435 and Lackman Rd will be closed for 3 months. The current westbound 435 lanes will be rebuilt as the C-D road from southbound 35 to northbound 435.

The major benefit of this design will be eliminating weaving between lanes on westbound 435 as drivers are attempting to get on from I-35 and Lackman and get off at Lackman or K-10. In the future, drivers on westbound 435 will have a separate set of exits at Lackman and K-10 from the traffic coming from southbound I-35 and Lackman Rd.

Notice about weather delay – if the potential rain this week is enough to delay the projects starting on Friday, the start date will be postponed a full week.
