During their regular monthly meeting in January, members of the Olathe Board of Education will hear a presentation on the district’s special education services. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 in the Education Center, 14160 Black Bob Road, Olathe.
The presentation by Director of Special Services Lanie Fasulo and Assistant Superintendent of General Administration Erin Dugan will cover student enrollment, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act categories, staffing, and funding in special services. District programs are provided for students from early childhood through post-secondary.
The board will recognize a business partner, perfect ACT score, outstanding soccer player, and the district’s nominees for three statewide teacher recognition programs.
Action items on the agenda include trade bids for Middle School 10, bulk carpet purchase, compact track/skid loader, white copy paper, temporary construction easement, fitness room equipment and marching band uniforms for Olathe West High School, high school technology plan, high school safety and security surveillance systems, and student trips.
The board will receive information on future action items including student trips, a special meeting with City of Olathe representatives, end-of-year meeting date and time, athletic trainer service contract, concrete and asphalt repairs, updates to the employee mobile technology policy, bidding schedules for construction projects, several bids, sale of the North Lindenwood Support Center, lease of land at 116th Street and Renner Boulevard, and recommended changes to the 2017-18 and 2018-19 district calendars.
The board will also receive a written update on Olathe West, the 2017 legislative update, and the Head Start director’s monthly report.
An executive session is expected for the purpose of discussing personnel matters and employer-employee negotiations.
