Axel Edward Thomsen, 94, passed away June 19, 2015, at Olathe Medical Center.

Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS 913-856-7111. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Lake Village, in Olathe, KS at 3:30 pm on Thursday, June 25th. Inurnment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted, IA at a later date.

Axel was born August 11, 1920 on the family farm near Ringsted, IA to parents, Marie Bodholdt Pedersen and Martin Thomsen. He was a 1937 graduate of Ringsted High School and attended Grandview College in Des Moines. Axel served in the US Air Force during WWII. On August 11, 1953, Axel married Lou Ann Lee. They resided on the farm near Ringsted where they cared for livestock, farmed the land and raised a family. While living in Iowa, Axel was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed Square Dancing and cuing Round Dances for over 30 years. Axel farmed well into his eighties and in 2013, moved to Olathe with his wife. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Linda Lee Thomsen, infant son Martin Eric Thomsen and sister Karen Kadgihn. Axel is survived by his wife Lou Ann, of the home; daughter Jane Margaret Scaro and Don of Edgerton, KS, Laura LuAnn Thomsen of Overland Park, KS; and many dear friends

  1. Axel was a wonderful, kind, and good Christian man. We will miss him at Cedar Lake Village. My condolences to Lou Ann and the family.

  2. Axel always had a smile, kind words and a twinkle in his eyes. I enjoyed him immensely. He will be missed.
