Beverly Ann Shay, 73, passed away December 6, 2016. Visitation services will be held Monday, December 12th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula Street, Olathe, Kansas, 66061. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, December 13th at 1 p.m., also at McGilley & Frye.
Beverly was a life-long resident of Olathe. She was born January 10, 1943 in Olathe to Richard and Doris McCracken. She worked for Olathe North High School for 34 years. Beverly also attended and graduated from Olathe North (known as Olathe High School then) from 1959 to 1961; the first year the school was opened. She made so many friends over the years and helped educate and influence countless young lives. She was a proud, long-time Olathe Old Settler.
Beverly cherished her beloved Weimaraners Molly and Abby. She took them almost every day, rain or shine, hot or cold, to the dog park at Heritage Park. Her and the dogs were well known there.
Beverly enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues over the years. She enjoyed gardening, especially caring for her many cacti. She also loved fishing and taught both her sons how to fish. Probably her biggest passion was cheering on the K.U. basketball team.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Christine Shay of Texas and her son, Robert Shay and his wife Rita of Olathe, Kansas. Her grandchildren are Joshua Shay and Madeline Shay, both of Olathe. Also her beloved dogs Molly and Abby.
Beverly will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
