Don McCoy, 72, of Spring Hill, KS passed away August 7, 2016 at Olathe Hospice House.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 South Webster, Spring Hill, KS. Don was born on October 18, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey to Dorothy Elizabeth (Laphan) McCoy and Charles Roscoe McCoy. Don served as an altar boy in the church. He graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School in New Jersey in 1962. Don served in the United States Marines from 1962 to 1966. He married Georgia Anne Dean on March 25, 1967 in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a police officer for 14 years in Silver Springs, Maryland. Don and his family moved to Olathe, KS in 1979. Don worked for security for Whelan in KCMO. He was a member of the Life Mission Church, Olathe, KS and the Earl Collier American Legion Post 153, Olathe, KS. Don was a former Little League football coach and a fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs and Colorado Rockies. He enjoyed reading history and investigation books. Don was skilled at redoing old photos on the computer as well as working computer puzzles. He will be missed by family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Samuel A. Ewing. He is survived by his wife Anne of the home, and daughters Lisa Y. Moore (Tim), Olathe, KS and Lorrie Ann McCoy of Spring Hill, sisters Jayne McCoy Harker, Westville, NJ, Carol McCoy Thomson, Gloucester, NJ, and Donna Ewing Erdman, Augusta, SC, and half-brother Charles Roscoe McCoy III of New Orleans, LA and grandchildren Mallorie and Madison Moore and Blake McCoy.
