Gary Dean Helt, 67, of Gardner, passed away at Kansas City Hospice House on June 30, 2016.

Gary was born January 7, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Dorothy (Barnard) and George Helt. He was a 1967 graduate of Valley High School in Des, Moines. Gary served in the U. S. Army. He was in charge of retail shelving at Acosta Co. for three years and before that worked at CocaCola in Lenexa for ten years. He was a member of the Gardner VFW and the First Presbyterian Church of Gardner. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing and reading. He was a huge fan of the Chiefs and the Missouri Tigers and attended sporting events whenever possible. He loved electronics and technology and spending time with the grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his children Randy S. Helt (April) of Peculiar, Mo and Heather Roberts of Louisburg, KS; siblings Susan Christian of Orlando, FL and Theodore Helt of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Madison Helt, Kyler Davidson, Kyrsten Slack and Dillin Roberts; and former wives Linda Payne of Des Moines and Teresa Rezac of Gardner.
