Harold Eastland


Harold passed away just after midnight on April 26th at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa Oklahoma.
Harold was born Oct 5, 1928 to Ruby Blanche Eastland (Dunham) and Allen Morris Eastland in rural Olathe, Ks. He was the fifth of seven brothers and sisters (Morris Eastland, Irene Peer, Francis (Shorty) Eastland, Nadine Paulsen, Dale Eastland, and Sue Pickell. He attended school at Lane, Fort Scott and graduated from Gardner in 1946. Served in the Navy from 1946 – 1950 on the USS Boxer and in Japan. Worked at Kansas City Power Light and retired after 32 years.

In Olathe he meet Betty Lou Frye and they were later married in the (Old) Olathe First Methodist Church on Jan 17, 1953 for 62 years . He and Betty had two children Charles Martin Eastland (1954) and Janet Lynn Kauth (1956).
Harold also served as the American Legion Commander at the Gardner Leroy Hill Post for numerous years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and teasing as his pass time. Upon retiring he and Betty traveled around the states in their trailer seeing various sites and meeting new friends. They lived for a while in Phoenix, Arizona, then moved to present Tulsa.

Harold is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Janet Kauth son Charles and Ana Maria Eastland (Barrientos).Grand children Jason Eastland, Michelle Garcia (Eastland) and Bryan and great Grand children Isabelle and Enzo Garcia. And numerous nieces and nephews , plus still held close to his heart, David Kauth, Alyssa and Noah Kauth, Kade and Xhalin Flores, Beau and Paisley Inman.

Services are to be held at 2 o’clock in Olathe , Kansas at the McGilley and Frye Funeral Home. The chapel will be open from noon for family and friends . Contributions can be made to the Gardner American Legion, Olathe, KS.
