1943-2015
James “Jim” Phillip Workman, 72, of Wellsville, KS, passed away May 6, 2015 at Olathe Hospice House.

Graveside Service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 pm Monday, May 11, 2015 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS, 913-856-7111. Memorial Contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Olathe Hospice House.

Jim was born March 28, 1943 to Doris (Mitchell) and Loyal Rex “Dink” Workman. He grew up in Nebraska and they moved to North Kansas City where he was a N KC High School graduate. He then attended Drafting School. Jim married Beverly A. Thomas on March 6, 1976 in Overland Park, KS. They lived in rural Spring Hill for 18 years and moved to Wellsville in 1998. Jim was a mechanical engineer at Trend Plastics in Olathe, Bakan Plastics in Lee’s Summit, MO, and self-employed out of his home.

Jim was a member of the Center Fire Shooting Range in Olathe. His joy came from his weekly target practices and also restoring a 1972 Mustang. He enjoyed having his morning coffee at “Smokies” and the Mini Mart in Edgerton.

He loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother. Jim is survived by his wife Beverly, of the home, a daughter Dawn Freesen and a grandson Michael Britten.
