Lee M. Mahaffie, 96, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on November 13, 2016. Funeral services will be 2pm, Friday, November 18, 2016 at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St, Olathe, Kansas, with burial following in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascend Hospice Care.

Lee was born January 6, 1920 in Olathe, Kansas to Ruel and Lena (Marlowitch) Mahaffie. In school he was an outstanding track athlete as well as baseball player. Lee served his country in the Army during WWII in the Aleutian Islands. After serving his country, he returned to Olathe and worked construction for many years, retiring from Pittman’s Construction. Lee was an avid sports enthusiast who loved to play and teach baseball. He would take any chance he could to root on his favorite team, his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.

Mr. Mahaffie was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Eloise Patrick and Kathryn Weaver, 3 brothers; Claude, Raymond and Paul Mahaffie and wife of 50 years, Dorothy Mahaffie.

Lee is survived by 2 sisters, Virginia Runnels and Minnie Midyett and numerous nieces and nephews. Although he never had children of his own, Brandon and Travis Morris were very special to him.
