Mary Alice (Wiederholt) was born and raised in Conception, Missouri. She grew up on a farm with seven sisters and four brothers. Mary graduated from Conception High School in May of 1947. She went on to marry James Joseph Giudicessi in April of 1949 and kept busy as the beloved mother to six children, Gary, Patty, Frank, Luella, John, and Jimmy. In 1969 the family relocated from Kansas City, Missouri to Olathe, Kansas. In 1974 she completed her Advanced Nurse Aide and Medication Tech Certification. She utilized those skills and her love of people, as she cared for many residents while working at Good Samaritan Care Center in Olathe and at Olathe Hospital. She was strong in her faith and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Parish in Olathe, Kansas.
Mary was not only a grandma to nine grandchildren; she had 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed having her coffee and visiting with neighbors, fixing hair, and cooking amazing meals. She loved music, dancing, and traveling. She made many special memories during her numerous visits to Las Vegas to visit Gary and Nadine and trips to the beach, visiting Patty and Max.
Mother Mary touched the lives of many people with her smile and enthusiasm for life and maintained her feisty spirit all the way to the end. She will be missed by all of us who love her, but we take comfort in knowing she is at peace with family and friends who have passed before her.
