Norma Fern was born on September 8, 1931 in Grogan, MO to Gladys (Miller) and Roy Grogan. She was a 1949 graduate of Cabool High School. It was on the school bus that she met the love of her life Roy McGuire. Roy and Norma Fern were married October 17, 1949 in Texas County. The couple were proud parents to two boys: Andy and Larry. Norma Fern really loved being a mother. Watching her boys play baseball while keeping score was one of her favorite pastimes.

The family moved to Spring Hill in 1965. Norma Fern quickly found her church home at Spring Hill Baptist Church where she proudly served as treasurer for many years.

Norma Fern was the best grandma. Her gentle spirit provided each grandchild a soft place to land and she loved spoiling them all. She also enjoyed playing games of all kinds. Weekly card game nights with her friends and family were among her fondest memories. She also loved going “down home” to the family farm and visiting with her siblings. Norma Fern was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She is loved and will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Norma Fern was preceded in death by her father Roy Ray Grogan; mother Gladys Pearl Grogan; brother Lloyd Grogan; sister Dorothy “Nadine” Thompson; brother in law Charles “Bus” Hughes; sister in law Dayta Grogan and brother in law Murl Thompson.

She is survived by her husband Roy McGuire; son Andy McGuire (Kathy) of Biddeford ME; son Larry McGuire (Debbie) of Spring Hill KS; grandson Chet Belcher (Amy) and their children; granddaughter Angie Bumgarner (Kevin); granddaughter Cori McGuire (Jeff Lightfoot); granddaughter Elaine Provencher and her children; granddaughter Bonnie McGuire and her children; granddaughter Brenda McGuire; sister Margaret “Lorene” Hughes; and sister Eva Fay Booker (James “Red”).
