Funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Sun., Nov. 15, 2015 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial 1:00 pm Mon., Nov. 16, 2015 at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Ft. Riley, 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd., Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be held 3:00 pm before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Roy was born March 18, 1952 in Bedford, VA to Roy Henry Blake, Sr. and Lillie Mae (Calloway) Blake. He was educated in the Bedford, VA and Philadelphia, PA school systems. Roy married Sylvia Wilson and to that union was born Charna and Trina. In 1978 he began his employment with Steel and Pipe Supply Company, Manhattan, KS retiring in 2014 from the New Century, KS site. During his tenure he received numerous honors. Roy was a member of Pilgrim Baptist, Manhattan, KS and Victory Temple, Kansas City, MO. Everyone knew Roy to be loving and caring to both family and friends. He was well known for his sense of humor, his beautiful smile and his no-nonsense approach to life. Roy knew how to look outside the box, loved to work with his hands and liked to try his luck.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marcia Keitt. Roy leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sylvia of the home; daughters, Charna Blake and special friend Jonathan Kincy, Trina and husband Henry Wash; grandsons, Keyel and Kavon Kincy; brothers, Ronald Blake, Charles Blake, Jerome Blake, Anthony Blake and Michael Blake; two uncles, four aunts; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
