Theodora Patricia “Teddye” Richardson, 82, of Gardner passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Olathe Hospice House.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 am Saturday, April 2, 2016 at New Life Community Church, 17935 S Moonlight Rd, Gardner, KS 66030. Burial following at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, KS. Visitation 10:00 am and Special Services by the Order of the Golden Circle, Daughters and Order of the Eastern Star at 10:45 am before the service. Theodora Patricia was born May 28, 1933, in St. John, KS to Amy (Rawlins) Gutierrez and George Gutierrez. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour as a pre-teen. She was a past member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Emporia, St. Paul A.M.E. church in Olathe and was last a member of New Life Community Church in Gardner, all located in Kansas. After graduating High School in St. John, Theodora met and married Norman E. Evans in 1953. To this union was born two sons, Anthony Eugene and Jerry Wayne and a daughter, Hollye Aline. Several years after Norman passed away, she met and married Archie Richardson. They made their home in Gardner, KS. Nicknamed, “Teddye”, she was Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher for her children. Teddye managed several apartment units in Towanda, Newton, Council Grove and was live-in manager at Eastgate Plaza in Emporia. She was receptionist at Emporia State Bank and Girl Scout Assistant Secretary. Teddye was receptionist and Head Accounts Receivable Clerk at Interstate Bakery (Dolly Madison) in Emporia. She later became Director of Volunteers at Meadowbrook Rehab Hospital in Gardner. Teddye was past Worthy Matron of Naomi #13, Emporia and Electa #2, Kansas City, Order of the Eastern Star. She held several positions in Grand Chapter; among those were Grand Marshall and Grand Conductress. Teddye was Past Loyal Lady Ruler of Orient #39, Order of Golden Circle and later became State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler. She was also Past Illustrious Commandress of Koran Ct. #37, Daughters of Kansas City, KS.
Teddye was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ramon and Marion; sister, Rosalie Thompson; son, Anthony; daughter, Hollye; niece, Roberta Thompson and nephew, Gary Gutierrez. She loved and was loved by her husband, Archie of Gardner, KS; son, Jerry Wayne (Stacey) Evans, Wichita, KS and sister-in-law Beverly (Ramon) Gutierrez, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren: Tony Jr., Alex, Hannah, Mackenzie, Tynika and Jade; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
