Valeta Mae “Cheddar” Obermeier, 81, passed away July 15, 2016 at her home in Gardner.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 306 E Madison, Gardner. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to King of Kings Lutheran Church.

Valeta was born May 20, 1935 in Paola, KS to Maria Margaretha (Tewes) and William Bernhardt Prothe. She was a 1953 graduate of Paola High School. Valeta married Wilbur Kipper on October 30, 1955. They lived in KCKS and Republic, MO. After Wilbur passed away in 1976, she moved to the Johnson County area. Valeta was a bookkeeper for Daisy at the Industrial Airport. She later was the “lunch lady” at Olathe North High School. Valeta was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and the Bible Study class. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion of Olathe. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. Valeta will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur Kipper and second husband Everett Obermeier, and brother Williard Prothe. Valeta is survived by children Bill Kipper of Steamboat Springs, CO and Theresa Hall and Jim of Gardner; grandchildren C J Hall, Alexandra Hall and Domanick Hall; sister-in-law Jean Prothe of Iola, KS; nieces Cydney Willis of Manhattan, KS and Connie Rutledge of Iola, KS; great nieces G
