10 businesses cited for selling alcohol to minors

Olathe Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit the night of Friday, April 27, conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout Olathe.

These compliance checks focused on businesses that sell alcohol. The purpose of the operation was to insure they are checking customer’s identification and not selling alcohol to under-age individuals. Out of 52 establishments checked, 42 complied by asking for ID.

The 10 establishments that did not comply were cited for selling alcohol to minors and given municipal court dates. The names of those businesses were not provided by the police. Continue reading

Olathe PD conducts alcohol compliance checks

During the evening hours of Thursday May 23, members of the Olathe Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit conducted alcohol compliance checks throughout the City of Olathe.

These compliance checks focused on establishments that sell alcohol. The purpose of the operation was to insure that these establishments are checking customer’s identification and not selling alcohol to under-aged individuals. Out of 59 establishments checked, 55 complied by asking for ID. The four establishments that did not comply were cited for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor and given municipal court dates. Four liquor stores cited for selling to minors

The Olathe Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit focused on businesses that sell alcohol while conducting alcohol compliance checks throughout Olathe during the evening hours of March 29.

The purpose of the operation was to insure that these establishments are checking customer’s identification and not selling alcohol to under-aged minors. Out of 59 establishments checked, 54 complied by asking for ID. The five establishments that did not comply were cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor and given municipal court dates.

While the high number of compliant businesses is encouraging, it is the continued goal of the Olathe Police Department to attain 100 percent compliance throughout the city. The Olathe Police will continue to routinely conduct compliance checks throughout the upcoming year.

Businesses and the community as a whole are asked to help in our efforts to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors.

“This is just a part of the police department’s continuing effort to prevent under-aged drinking and insure that businesses that sell alcohol are doing their part to help keep our community safe,” Chief Steven Menke said.
