Body found in DeSoto

Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies Tuesday, Oct. 29, are investigating the discovery of a body located in the 9500 block of Sunflower Rd in De Soto.

Information about the person will be released after an autopsy has been performed and deputies have confirmed the person’s identity and notified next of kin. A spokesman for the Sheriff said he could not say whether the body was that of a man or a woman.

Deputies received a call at approximately 3:30 p.m. from a passerby walking in the area who reported seeing a body in the area that they believed to be dead.

A search has been underway in the area since an Olathe man, Brad Cook, 22, was reported missing by his family on Oct. 20 after he didn’t return home.  His motorcycle was located at Beer 30, a bar in De Soto.

Cook is a white man, 6 feet, 3 inches tall weighing 185 pounds.  He has short brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black shirt, a black sweatshirt, black boots and a black bandana.

Anyone with information should call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 913-715-5560 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
