City Council

Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund Reaches Record High
The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund is wrapping up the 2012 campaign poised to celebrate the most successful drive in the history of the fund.  Contributions to date total $104,000, exceeding the $100,000 goal.

Perhaps the greatest story in the annual holiday season fund drive is that of student giving. Through the Pennies for Shoes campaign, jugs were placed in participating Olathe schools and students donated change and dollars. As a result, Olathe Public Schools’ students amassed 18% of the fund total, over $19,000, to benefit the Children’s Shoe Fund and the Olathe Public Schools Foundation (Wimmer Student Care Fund).  This is a significant increase over last year’s Pennies for Shoes campaign which drew $11,700 in donations.  Continue reading
