You’ll get no argument from me that I will do just about anything when it comes to each of my five grandkids.

To say they have me wrapped around their little fingers is, well, an understatement.

Our oldest, Alexandra, is 13 and leaves on Whidbey Island near Seattle, Wash. Dylan, 7, and his sister Carys, 5, live in Windsor, Colo., just east of Fort Collins. Then there are Rylin, 4, and her sister Ashlyn, 18 months, who live in Olathe and who I have been babysitting three afternoons a week since Rylin was six months old.

Pumpkin decorating draws Ravenwood families

Starting a new tradition at school can be exciting, but it’s also a lot of work for those who plan and execute the event. Parents and administrators at Ravenwood Elementary School are proud to say their first-ever pumpkin decorating night was a success . . . a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10.

“I think we would all give it a 10,” said administrative intern Dana Hinds of the Oct. 23 event.

Many students wore their Halloween costumes and brought their own pumpkins to the outdoor event on the playground. The PTO supplied the decorations ranging from paint to glitter, and there were a number of other Halloween/fall related activities to choose from. Continue reading
